DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, November 27. Approximately 5.259 million tons of cargo were transported via railway transport in Tajikistan from January through October 2023, Trend reports.
Data from the Statistics Agency under the President of Tajikistan indicates a 7.2-percent increase in figure compared to January-October 2022.
The breakdown of cargo transportation by railway transport across the regions of the country is as follows: Sughd region - 51.4 percent (2.706 million tons), Khatlon region - 8.1 percent (424,200 tons), and Dushanbe city (including the districts of republican subordination) - 40.5 percent (2.129 million tons).
Overall, more than 96.733 million tons of cargo were transported via all modes of transport in Tajikistan from January through October 2023, representing a 14.7 percent increase compared to the corresponding period in the previous year.
Of them, more than 91.473 million tons of cargo were transported via road transport during the reporting period, accounting for 94.6 percent of the total volume of goods transported by all modes of transport
