DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, December 16. Tajikistan is set to launch a motorcycle and bicycle manufacturing plant in the Kushoniyon district in the Khatlon region in 2024, Trend reports.
This announcement came as Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon familiarized himself with the project.
The plant will manufacture 30 different varieties of two-wheeled motorbikes and three-wheeled bicycles in various sizes, with over 30 percent of the equipment and spare parts being built directly by the plant. This effort is part of the "Years of Industrial Development" designated for 2022-2026.
Tajikistan is currently executing an accelerated industrialization strategy for the period of 2022-2026. In January 2022, President Rahmon designated this timeframe as the "Years of Industrial Development," aiming ambitiously to increase industrial output by 2.5 times within five years. The objective for 2026 is set at 95 billion somoni ($9.3 billion), a significant rise from 38.8 billion somoni ($3.7 billion) recorded in 2021.
The country's industrial production increased by 8.9 percent during January through October 2023 compared to the previous year. During this time, total value of industrial goods production reached 37.059 billion somoni ($3.4 billion).
