DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, February 25. A recent report from the World Food Programme (WFP) shows that in Tajikistan, the average price for a liter of petrol was 10.2 somoni ($0.93) as of February 12, 2024, Trend reports.
The figure decreased by 1.9 percent from the 10.4 somoni ($0.95) recorded in the previous WFP market report on February 5, 2024. Compared to the same period in 2023, there has been a 25 percent increase in petrol prices, according to WFP.
In the capital city of Dushanbe, the price of petrol reached 9.9 somoni ($0.9), having not changed from the prices reported on February 5, 2024.
The highest prices were observed in Ishkoshim district at 13 somoni ($1.19), while conversely, the lowest prices for gasoline were found in Bokhta city as of February 12 at 8.2 somoni ($0.75).
WFP Tajikistan, in collaboration with the Neksigol Mushovir advisory organization, has been monitoring commodity prices in markets across the country. Data is collected through a network of field enumerators who interview multiple traders for each commodity, recording average prices.
