DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, March 2. The Main Department of Geology under the Government of Tajikistan completed contractual work on over 1,200 projects totaling 118.2 million somoni ($10.772 million) from 2018 through 2023, Trend reports.
This was announced during a government meeting chaired by Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon.
It was emphasized that the Main Department of Geology continues geological exploration of subsoil resources across 56 projects at various sites.
President Rahmon issued specific instructions to responsible individuals to intensify exploration and geological work, improve the activities of all geological structures, attract investments, and implement modern equipment and technologies in the industry. He also stressed the transition to a modern digital system and international standards for resource accounting.
The president highlighted that the extraction and processing of mineral resources, particularly rare minerals, could become one of the country's most important paths for economic development.
According to the Agency of Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, the value of production in Tajikistan's extractive industry amounted to 9.372 billion somoni ($856.734 million) in 2023.
