DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, April 11. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) predicts Tajikistan's inflation to climb to 5.5 percent in 2024, which is 0.5 percent lower than the previous projection given in September 2023, Trend reports.
At the same time, the ADB predicts that inflation will rise to
6.5 percent by 2025.
The ADB stated that the increase in inflation will be driven by
expectations of more lending as deposits rise, as well as the
announced 40 percent increase in pensions, scholarships, and
salaries beginning January 1, 2024.
In addition, a 16 percent increase in electricity tariffs will have
an impact on Tajikistan's inflation rate.
Meanwhile, Tajikistan's inflation rate in 2023 was 3.8 percent, 0.4
percentage points lower than in 2022.
