Seyitmyrat Taganov, who worked previously in the position of deputy chairman of the State Concern Turkmenpagta "(Turkmenhlopok), appointed the Minister of water resources, said on Saturday national TV channel Altin Asyr.
The corresponding decree was signed by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
As part of its mandate the Ministry carries out work on the regulation and distribution of water resources, construction and operation of water facilities, development of new and improvement of reclamation state of irrigated lands.
These issues were raised to local media and a recent government meeting. Berdimuhamedov emphasized "the need for the widespread introduction of water saving technologies, scientific achievements and advanced experience in the world for water management in our country, a reliable water supply, the environmental condition of the objects the industry."
Speaking about the importance of a systematic approach to solving tasks, the Turkmen leader also noted significant role of international cooperation in this sector, implementation of joint projects, as well as integrated planning of measures to improve water management.
