Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev in his letter to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov offered to hold talks at the highest level.

"I believe that at present there is a need to hold negotiations at the highest level to discuss further development and strengthening of constructive cooperation between our countries, as well as giving new impetus to the further successful intergovernmental cooperation between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan," the letter says.

In this regard, Kazakh president invited the Turkmen counterpart to pay an official visit to Astana in 2012.

"I am confident that your visit to Astana and our new agreements will raise the relations between the two brotherly countries to an even higher level for the benefit of our peoples," Nazarbayev said.

He said in recent years, Kazakh-Turkmen relations, based on centuries-old ties of friendship, brotherhood, mutual respect and good neighborliness, are developing dynamically for the benefit of the countries and peoples.

A good example of successful cooperation between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan is joint implementation of major regional infrastructure projects for the construction of transnational gas main Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China and North-South railway main connecting the two countries with Iran.
