Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has made a number of appointments at the agro-industrial complex, the Turkmen government said today.

According to the report, Veli Veliyev was appointed chairman of the Turkmen State Food Industry Association, Yalkapberdi Charyev - chairman of the Turkmengallaonumleri state association and Charygeldi Charlyev - chairman of the Turkmenobahyzmat (Turkmenagroservis) state association.

There is the agricultural sector development programme in Turkmenistan until 2016, aimed at increasing agricultural production volume.

Turkmenistan has recently begun exporting surplus food grain. This year's grain harvest plan is for 1.6 million tons.

Turkmenistan will start harvesting cotton in late summer 2013. The plan is usually set at 1.1 million tons of raw cotton. Cotton is supplied to China, Russia, Great Britain, South Korea, Turkey, Iran, Indonesia, Singapore, Ukraine and the Baltic countries.
