Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhamedov received Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister on Parliamentary Affairs Takao Makino.

The parties exchanged views on a wide range of issues of cooperation and the strengthening of which, by common opinion, are the similarity or coincidence of views on a range of issues in international politics, the Turkmen government reported.

"In particular, the possibility of further expansion of the Turkmen-Japanese relations in various fields, including fuel and energy, transport and communications sector, health care, sports, tourism, education and information technologies have been touched upon," the government report reads.

It was also reported that an official representative of Tokyo conveyed greetings of Japan Emperor Akihito and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe," addressed to the leader of the nation and the Turkmen people sincere wishes for happiness and success."

Berdimuhamedov had discussed the possibility of attracting Japanese investment in the Turkmen economy during his visit to Japan last September. Then in Tokyo contracts were signed for several billion dollars for the construction of a number of large industrial enterprises, which will also be financed by the Bank of Japan.
