Turkmenistan is continuing the campaign for elections to representative bodies of local authorities (the regional, district and urban people's councils), the 'Neutral Turkmenistan' newspaper said Oct. 13 quoting the Central Election Commission (CEC).
The candidates' registration started Oct. 4. Their nomination kicked off Sept. 24 and will continue till Oct. 24.
The elections will be held Nov. 23, in single-mandate constituencies.
Turkmenistan's citizens, aged at least 21, may be nominated as candidates for the people's council members.
The Turkmen Election Code grants the political parties, public associations and citizens' groups with the right to nominate candidates.
