By Huseyn Hasanov- Trend:

Turkmenistan's Council of Elders has declared 2015 the Year of Neutrality and Peace in the country, a message from the government of Turkmenistan said on Oct.21.

By adopting a resolution 'On the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan' dated Dec.12, 1995, the UN General Assembly recognized the country's peaceful foreign policy, according to the government message.

Turkmenistan will mark the 20th anniversary of its permanent neutrality in 2015.

During the 69th session of the UN General Assembly, Turkmenistan proposed to convene a Forum on Security and Cooperation in Central Asia under the UN auspices in Ashgabat in 2015.

Turkmenistan's military doctrine envisages sufficiency in the defense sphere and refusal to participate in military-political blocs.
