The Turkmen-Turkish top-level negotiations will be held in Ashgabat. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan paid an official visit to Turkmenistan Nov. 6 to participate in these talks, the Turkmen government said Nov. 7.

Turkmen and Turkish Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Recep Tayyip Erdogan will discuss a wide range of issues of mutual interest, said the statement.

The countries have steady dynamics of expanding the cooperation in trade-economic, fuel-energy, transport-communication sectors.

"Of course, the current top-level meeting will be a landmark event in the international political life," Turkmen Dovlet Habarlary state news agency reported.

"It may be considered not only as another important action towards intensifying the traditional cooperation, but also as a mutual desire to search for the most effective, important formats of cooperation given the state priorities and national interests of the two fraternal countries."

Turkey is one of the biggest trade-economic partners of Turkmenistan. More than 600 Turkish companies work on the local market.

Earlier, it was reported that as of 2013, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to about $4.746 billion or by 38 percent more compared to 2012.

Turkmenistan is one of the key players on the gas market in the Caspian region and Central Asia. Turkey expresses interest in re-export of Turkmen gas to Europe. Laying a 300-kilometer gas pipeline through the Caspian Sea to the coast of Azerbaijan would be the most optimal route. It has the appropriate infrastructure to re-transport natural fuel to Turkey and further to Europe.
