Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, Dec. 27
By Huseyn Hasanov- Trend:
The Turkmen parliament ratified the treaty of friendship, mutual understanding and cooperation between Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan, the Turkmen government said Dec. 26.
The two countries are involved in a large project for supplying Central Asian gas to China, primarily from Turkmenistan. Beijing and Ashgabat have a long-term agreement to increase supplies up to 65 billion cubic meters of gas by 2020.
China's CNPC has buying fuel in this region since 2009 after the first two branches of the gas pipeline (A and B) were launched from Turkmenistan through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. The third branch (C), stretching through this route, has been recently commissioned.
Currently, an additional fourth branch (D) on the new transit through Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan is being constructed.
