Turkmenistan marks Constitution day May 18.
This day was declared a holiday.
At the last meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of the country, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov said that the Constitution is an immutable legal platform of dynamically developing Turkmen sovereign state.
He went on to add that the Basic Law contains centuries-old experience of people in building a state, the basic norms of international law, modern democratic concept.
"The Constitution of Turkmenistan is the indispensable guarantor of observance of rights and freedoms, ensuring the rule of law," said the president.
The president also said that the Basic Law has been greatly improved at the latest historical path of development of the state.
Important historical events received a legal interpretation in it. Thus, the first article of the Constitution establishes the UN-recognized neutral status of Turkmenistan.
