The UK delegation led by Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office Tobias Ellwood is on a working visit to Ashgabat, said the message from Turkmen government.

During the meeting held at Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry, the sides discussed the possibilities of expanding the cooperation on a number of spheres such as energy, civil aviation, sports and tourism, said the message.

They also expressed interest in cooperation in ensuring human rights and freedoms by exchanging experience in this sphere.

The two sides expressed commitment to intensifying the cooperation at the level of foreign ministries of the two countries by enhancing the political dialogue and organizing mutual visits.

Talking about the cooperation in trade and economic sphere, the sides emphasized the fruitful activities of Turkmenistan-UK Trade & Industry Council (TUKTIC).

They stressed the importance of strengthening the legal framework and practical implementation of the agreements by organizing joint projects, as well as by working out a joint action plan to improve the relations.

Such UK companies as Dragon Oil, Burren Energy, Gaffney, Cline & Associates, De La Rue and others operate in Turkmenistan. The UK regards Turkmenistan as one of the key players in the international energy sphere.
