The Turkmen State Concern 'Turkmennebitgazgurlushyk' has started development of a group of gas and condensate fields 'Zeakli-Derveze' in the Central Karakum Desert in Turkmenistan since early 2016, the country's oil and gas ministry said in a message.

As many as 13 wells have been drilled at the development site of a group of gas and condensate fields 'Zeakli-Derveze' in the Central Karakum Desert of Turkmenistan (at an area of ​​more than 4.5 hectares), and two of these wells have been already prepared for operation, according to the message.

Work on installation of transformer substation and pumps is currently being held.

Turkmenistan is a key player in the energy market of the Caspian region and Central Asia. A powerful commercial natural gas inflow was obtained at the 'Bagly-1' area in the Karakum Desert in Turkmenistan's Mary Province in August 2015. The daily hydrocarbon output at the new field exceeds one and a half million cubic meters.
