By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:

During the negotiations in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan and Slovenia expressed mutual interest to launch direct air traffic between the two countries and to expand business ties, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in a message Oct. 5.

These issues were discussed during the meeting with Slovenia’s ambassador to Turkmenistan (with residence in Moscow) Primoz Sheligo in the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

Speaking about the high level of political and diplomatic cooperation, the sides discussed the issues on holding the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission, as well as consultations between the two countries’ foreign ministries, said the message.

Currently, Turkmenistan’s national air carrier Turkmenistan Airlines carries out flights to Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus, UK, France, Turkey, the UAE, Germany, Thailand, China, India and other countries.

An international airport was opened in Ashgabat in September 2016. The new airport is able to take aircrafts of any type and capacity.

Turkmenistan is creating a combined system of communication, combining air and land routes based on the optimum use of advantages of each of them with an access to the major international and regional sea, river, road, rail and air hubs.
