Doha hosted a ceremony of signing bilateral documents on Mar. 15 after the Turkmen-Qatari high-level negotiations, the Turkmen Dovlet Habarlary state news service reported.

Memorandums of understanding (MoU) on development of cooperation in the energy sphere and on cooperation in the area of standardization, meteorology, certification and accreditation were adopted at the intergovernmental level. The Turkmenistan Airlines and Qatar’s Civil Aviation Authority signed a MoU.

A MoU on cooperation in the sphere of biodiversity and environmental protection was also signed between the two sides.

The Institute of International Relations of Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry and Qatar’s Diplomatic Institute signed a MoU.

The report says that Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani and Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is on a state visit in Doha, held an expanded format meeting with participation of the two countries’ official delegations and then a one-on-one meeting.

Turkmenistan has great interest in studying the experience of Qatar as a country, which has significant achievements in economy, science and education, in the energy sphere and sports. Great opportunities were noted for the development of trade and economic cooperation and diversification of mutual trade turnover.
