Production of mineral fertilizers holds a special place among the processing industries of Turkmenistan, the country’s Ministry of Economy and Development said.
Enterprises producing nitrogen fertilizers - the Maryazot Production Association, the Tejenkarbamid plant, the Marykarbamid plant and the Turkmenabat chemical plant, which produces phosphoric fertilizers, operate in this field.
Production of mineral fertilizers in Turkmenistan has increased more than twice over the past five years, the Turkmen Ministry of Economy and Development said.
The increase is due to the commissioning of new production capacities of a complex of plants for the production of 400,000 tons of ammonia and 640,000 tons of carbamide in the Turkmen city of Mary in 2014.
In addition, another plant is being built in the city of Garabogaz in the Balkan province of Turkmenistan.
The plant is expected to annually produce 1.155 million tons of carbamide, which will be fully exported.
“If this project is implemented, the volume of carbamide production in Turkmenistan will be more than 2 million tons,” the Turkmen Ministry of Economy and Development said.
