Ashgabat, Tashkent mull co-op prospects

Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has exchanged views with his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during a phone talk, on topics of mutual interest of regional and international agenda, the Turkmen government said in a message May 2.
Heads of the two neighboring countries noted that the existing high level of mutual understanding between the countries, closeness of positions and approaches on regional and international political issues will further continue to serve as a solid basis for constructive cooperation.
The sides also discussed priorities of cooperation in the context of implementation of agreements and prospective plans reached during the first state visit of the Uzbek leader to Turkmenistan in March 2017.
In March 2017, presidents of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan signed an agreement in Ashgabat on strategic cooperation between the two countries.
