Turkmenistan, Japan to hold business negotiations

A regular meeting of the Turkmen-Japanese Economic Cooperation Committee is scheduled for May 23-24 in Ashgabat, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen government.

The parties note the need to carry out work on potential projects in new directions, the report said.

Following the official visit in October 2015 by Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe to Turkmenistan, the memorandums of understanding in the field of development of deposits of natural resources and development of transport infrastructure of Turkmenistan were signed.

Also agreements on a number of projects worth $18 billion were signed. The Japanese companies also announced their desire to take part in projects to develop the industrial infrastructure of the largest gas field in Turkmenistan - "Galkynysh".
