By Huseyn Hasanov– Trend:

Turkmen delegation is taking part in seminar “Energy Efficiency in Industry and Long-Term Energy Planning”, which takes place in Paris and is organized by the EU and the International Energy Agency (IEA), Trend reports with reference to Neytralni Turkmenistan newspaper.

The event involves employees of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan and the Turkmengaz and Turkmennebit state-owned concerns.

The IEA focuses attention on areas such as energy security, promoting diversification, ensuring stable energy supplies and encouraging free markets to stimulate economic growth and eliminate energy poverty.

The potential of Turkmen gas supplies to the EU was evaluated in Brussels during the meeting of the EU-Turkmenistan joint committee.

Turkmenistan then provided an update on domestic energy developments including the progress of the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline and energy efficiency issues.

Turkmenistan is studying the possibility of bringing its energy products to the European market. The Trans-Caspian project can be implemented as part of the EU-lobbied Southern Gas Corridor project. Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP), in which Turkey and Azerbaijan are involved or Azerbaijan-Georgia-Romania Interconnector (AGRI) can be useful in this direction.

To this end, a 300-kilometer gas pipeline will have to be laid along the Caspian seabed to the shores of Azerbaijan. The legal status of the Caspian seabed was approved in 2018 after twenty years of negotiations between the Caspian countries.

Turkmenistan has declared its readiness to supply Europe with an annual volume of up to 40 billion cubic meters of gas. Ashgabat recently announced that the EU has expressed willingness to help attract investments in the implementation of this project.
