Specialists from Russian Saint-Petersburg city will build the modern ships from composite materials for Turkmenistan, the city's governor Alexander Beglov said, Trend reports on Oct.8 via CentralAsia website.
"Petersburg shipbuilders will supply ships made of composite materials to Turkmenistan. We agreed to continue cooperation between the Turkmen side with the United Shipbuilding Corporation," Beglov said.
Shipbuilding is one of the leading industrial sectors in the economy of St. Petersburg. There are more than 40 shipyards in this city, 12 of which are part of the corporation.
The directions of joint work were discussed during the meeting of Deputy Prime Ministers of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Rashid Meredov with a delegation of the government of St. Petersburg headed by Governor Alexander Beglov on Sept.26.
At the meeting, Beglov said that from the beginning of 2021, the trade turnover between St. Petersburg and Turkmenistan has increased by almost 30 percent.
According to the governor, the opening of trading houses in St. Petersburg and Turkmenistan will contribute to a further increase in the trade turnover.
