Turkmenistan and the EU will intensify cooperation in the fields of energy, trade and transport, Trend reports citing Turkmen NEBIT-GAZ electronic newspaper.
According to the information, a wide range of issues related to the development and strengthening of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the EU was discussed on October 21 by the participants of the 20th meeting of the Joint Committee "Turkmenistan - European Union", held via videoconference.
Noting the high level of interaction, the parties stressed the need to further intensify political and diplomatic dialogue and inter-parliamentary ties, as well as trade and economic interaction. The parties also noted the importance of intensifying contacts at the highest level.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the possibilities of enhancing cooperation in the fields of trade, energy, transport, communications and high technologies.
In addition, the need to increase trade was emphasized, as well as the development of partnerships between the business structures of Turkmenistan and the EU countries.
The sides also considered joint programs and projects in the fields of ecology, agriculture, education and healthcare.
It is reported that the meeting from the Turkmen side was attended by heads and representatives of a number of ministries, Turkmengaz and Turkmenneft state concerns, as well as other departments.
On behalf of the EU, representatives of the European External Action Service (EEAS), headed by the head of the EEAS department for Russia, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia and the OSCE, Luc Devin, took part in the meeting.
