BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct. 25

By Farida Nuri - Trend:

Marysheker OJSC, the only sugar enterprise in Turkmenistan, plans to process 224,000 tons of sugar beet harvest this year, Trend reports on Oct.25 citing turkmenistan.gov.tm.

The harvesting of sugar beets has already begun in Mary and Balkan regions. This year, 14,900 hectares of land have been sown with beets in 10 districts of the Mary region. The largest site – 5,000 hectares - is located in the Garagum district.

In the Serdar, Bereket, Esenguly, Etrek and Magtymguly districts of the Balkan region, harvesting began from 3,000 hectares.

The harvested crop goes for processing at the "Marysheker" JSC. The production capacity of the enterprise is 11,000 tons of sugar per day.

Another processing plant is under construction in the Balkan region. Its launch in the future will expand the area for beets and reduce the cost of sugar.
