Turkmen, Iranian ministers discuss extending bilateral co-op

The 16th meeting of the intergovernmental commission on Iranian-Turkmen economic cooperation was held in Tehran, Trend reports on October 29, citing Turkmenistan's Golden Age newspaper.

The meeting was attended by the co-chairs of the commission - Deputy Prime Minister - Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran Rostam Ghasemi.

During the meeting, the parties stressed the positive dynamics of the development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation and noted that Iran is an important partner of Turkmenistan in the region.

They also considered the possibilities of enhancing contacts in the trade and economic sphere, industry, agriculture, discussed issues of customs and border regulation.

Special attention at the meeting was paid to the issues of expanding interaction between the regions of the two countries, developing contacts in the fields of education and culture, environmental protection and medical industry.

The ministers also agreed to hold a number of previously postponed cultural events, including cross Culture Days and exchange of visits by creative groups.

Following the meeting, a protocol was signed.
