BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 15. Turkmenistan has significantly increased the production and export of electricity from January through August 2022, Trend reports with reference to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Charymyrat Purchekov at a government meeting.

According to him, during the reporting period, the growth rate of electricity production amounted to 110.7 percent, and its exports - by 134.6 percent.

Furthermore, the Deputy Chairman noted that the plan for the manufacturing of products and the work done by the Ministry of Energy as a whole has been exceeded by 30 percent.

Turkmenistan is actively integrating into the unified energy system of Central Asia. It is expected that by 2025 Turkmenistan will contribute to the construction of new power plants, transmission lines, modern transformer substations, and distribution facilities.

Currently, Turkmen's electricity is exported to Iran, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
