BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 21. President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the Minister of State for Petroleum of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Musadik Masood Malik, Trend reports citing the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH).

The parties discussed the promotion of the joint project of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline, and also touched upon issues related to the laying of power transmission lines and fiber-optic communication along the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan (TAP) route.

The interlocutors noted that the implementation of these large-scale projects in the fields of energy and communications is designed to promote sustainable socio-economic development of the entire region, its successful integration into the system of world economic relations, as well as the consolidation of regional peace and stability.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed that Turkmenistan, which has an impressive hydrocarbon potential, consistently implements an energy strategy focused on the diversification of energy supplies to world markets.

In turn, the Minister expressed Pakistan's support for Turkmenistan's foreign policy and its international initiatives in the field of ensuring global energy security.
