BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 3. Japanese companies intend to build fertilizer plants in Turkmenistan, Trend reports citing the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH).

This was stated by the Chairman of the upper house of Parliament of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at a meeting with representatives of the Japanese business community, which took place in Tokyo, Japan.

According to him, in the near future it is planned to build a plant in the city of Garabogaz for the production of 600,000 tons of ammonia and 1.15 million tons of carbamide fertilizers per year, and in the city of Turkmenabat a plant for the manufacturing of 300,000 tons of phosphorus fertilizers per year.

Furthermore, he noted that Turkmen and Japanese businessmen are also planning to build a plant in the country to produce 640,000 tons of urea and 400,000 tons of ammonia per year.

Berdimuhamedov stressed that plans for joint work and agreements on these issues will be considered at the 14th meeting of the Turkmen-Japanese Committee for Economic Cooperation.
