BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 12. President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed to accelerate the implementation of the international Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, Trend reports with reference to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

The head of state said this on October 10 during an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.

At the same time, the President instructed the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Shakhym Abdrakhmanov to effectively use the production capacity of oil and gas enterprises.

He also noted the importance of discovering new deposits of hydrocarbon resources by strengthening the material and technical base of the industry and introducing modern technologies.

It is expected that the TAPI gas pipeline will annually transport 33 billion cubic meters of natural gas along an 1800-kilometer route from the Turkmen Galkynysh, the second largest gas field in the world, to the Indian city of Fazilka, located near the border of India with Pakistan.
