BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 31. Turkmenistan to increase electricity exports to Uzbekistan, Trend reports via Orient news.

Turkmenistan's Turkmenenergo State Electric Power Corporation and National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan JSC will sign an additional agreement on increasing the supply of electricity from Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan.

The resolution authorizing Turkmenenergo to conclude an additional agreement with Uzbek partners was signed at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

Turkmenistan is actively integrating into the unified energy system of Central Asia and plays an important role in creating additional opportunities for further increasing the volume of supplies.

The country will increase electricity exports by 8.7 percent by 2025 and this will be facilitated by the construction of new power plants, transmission lines, modern transformer substations, and distribution facilities.

Currently, Turkmen's electricity is supplied to Iran, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
