BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 17. ADB is supporting Turkmenistan in implementing National Power Grid Strengthening Project, Country Director of the Asian Development Bank for Turkmenistan Artur Andrysiak, told Trend.
"ADB and the Government of Turkmenistan are considering investment projects in the energy, transport, finance and healthcare sectors. The ongoing National Power Grid Strengthening Project is supporting the establishment of an interconnected national transmission grid to improve reliability and energy efficiency of the network, and support electricity exports," Andrysiak said.
He noted that ADB supports capacity building and institutional strengthening of the country through technical assistance projects, and also added that the bank has provided extensive technical support to Turkmenistan in order to improve project management capabilities in the energy sector.
"ADB helped strengthen power transmission infrastructure with significant physical progress made in the implementation of the ongoing National Power Grid Strengthening Project in 2022. Under this sovereign loan, $166.4 million was disbursed in 2022," the country director said.
