BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 20. Representatives of the Turkmendemiryollary Agency (Turkmenistan Railway) and the Afghan railways administration have agreed to increase the volume of traffic on the Serhetabat - Turgundi railway line, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.

According to the information, during the meeting, the parties agreed to increase transit through the railways of Turkmenistan, on the safe transportation of commercial goods and on improving the management of the port of Turgundi.

At the same time, it was noted that at the moment most of the imports arrive in Afghanistan through the territory of Uzbekistan.

The railway between Serhetabat city (Turkmenistan) and the Afghan city of Turgundi was built in 1982, its length is 5.5 kilometers. Turkmenistan has carried out a complete modernization of this branch by 2019, significantly increasing its capacity.
