BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 28. Large-scale production of urea will allow Turkmenistan to get the greatest economic benefit from the monetization of natural gas, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.

This was stated by the manager of the Stamicarbon company Sergey Abramov, at the forum on attracting investments in the energy sector of Turkmenistan held from April 26 through 27 in Dubai (UAE).

He noted that in the solid portfolio of the company, there are solutions for mega-plants with a capacity of up to 6,000 tons per day, and also added that today this is the maximum capacity for the production of urea.

According to Abramov, such large-scale projects represent one of the most promising areas of hydrocarbon monetization for Turkmenistan.

Urea production is one of the most cost–effective ways to monetize natural gas, the main raw material for the production of nitrogen fertilizers. But, in addition, it also solves such a noble task as providing the growing world population with food. Carbamide in this case performs one of the most important functions since it allows you to maintain soil fertility and increase crop yields, and therefore get more food for the planet," concluded Abramov.

Meanwhile, South Korean Daewoo E&C in cooperation with the Turkmenhimiya State Concern is working on projects for the construction of two plants in Turkmenistan, where natural gas will be the raw material for production.
