BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 3. Turkmenistan will be able to provide cargo transport from Uzbekistan with access to Europe, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.
This was stated by the President of Turkmenistan on May 2, 2023, at the opening of the international conference and exhibition on "International transport and transit corridors: interconnection and development" (ITC 2023).
According to him, the connection of the high-speed highway connecting the eastern region and the center of Turkmenistan to the Ashgabat-Turkmenbashi highway will provide access for trucks from neighboring Uzbekistan to the International Seaport on the Caspian Sea, and from there to the Caucasus, Europe, southern Russia, and northern Iran.
He noted that the issues of further activation of the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman international transport corridor, and the creation of a corridor along the Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia route are the focus of attention of all countries in the region.
The President stressed that the implementation of the five-party Agreement on the creation of the Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Türkiye International transport corridor (Lapis Lazuli) will bring the regional transport system to a new level.
