BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 9. The total amount of transactions in foreign currency at the auctions of the State Commodity and Raw Material Exchange of Turkmenistan amounted to about $78.08 million last week, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.
According to the information, entrepreneurs from the UAE, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and other countries purchased diesel fuel, gasoline, aviation kerosene produced at the enterprises of the Turkmennebit State Concern, as well as urea and gasoline produced by the Turkmenhimiya State Concern in exchange for foreign currency.
Furthermore, entrepreneurs from India and the UAE purchased cotton yarn for a total of 2.22 million Turkmen manats ($635,450) for the local currency.
Entrepreneurs from Turkmenistan bought petroleum road bitumen and handmade carpets for the domestic market in the amount of 50.58 million Turkmen manats ($14.47 million).
A total of 69 transactions were registered at the auctions of the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan last week.
The State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan was established on July 29, 1994. It is the most important body of state regulation of export-import operations.
