Turkmenistan to build trade center on border with Uzbekistan

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, July 23. The construction of a trade center in the Turkmen-Uzbek border zone, located in the Dashoguz region of Turkmenistan, will begin in July 2023, and the facility will be commissioned in July 2025, Trend reports.

According to the official source, the corresponding decree was signed by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the next online meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of the country.

In accordance with the document, the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan is allowed to conclude a contract with the repair and construction division of the subordinate Central Department of the Association of Consumer Societies for the design and construction of a trade center in the Turkmen-Uzbek border zone of the Dashoguz region with the improvement of the adjacent territory, with the condition of laying external supply engineering communication systems, electricity, and water supply.

The agreement between the Governments of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan "On the establishment and regulation of the Turkmen-Uzbek border trade zone – trade center" was signed on October 5, 2021.

The construction of a border trade zone is being carried out on the adjacent territory of the two countries in the area of the Shavat-Dashoguz checkpoint. It is planned to create a modern infrastructure in the border trade zone, including trade pavilions, warehouse facilities, container sites, and places of work for entrepreneurs.
