ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, August 4. Turkmenistan plans to harvest 47,940 tons of rice from the Lebap region located in the east of the country this season, Trend reports.
According to official information, 10,200 hectares of land have been sown in the region this year, and 4.7 tons of rice are planned to be harvested from each hectare.
During sowing, farmers determined the acreage in advance and carried out preparatory work. They approached rice sowing in a timely and organized manner, which made it possible to achieve full growth in rice fields.
To achieve the desired success, rice farmers maintained the necessary water level in the fields, introduced phosphorous and carbamide fertilizers, and cleared weeds that ensured normal rice growth.
The Government of Turkmenistan has been actively supporting agriculture in recent years, including rice cultivation, in order to ensure food security and eliminate dependence on grain imports. The state invests in infrastructure development, modernization of equipment, and the provision of financial incentives for farmers and agricultural enterprises engaged in rice cultivation.
