ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, November 6. Turkmenistan exported about 90,000 tons of greenhouse tomatoes to foreign countries from January through September this year, Trend reports.
The volume of greenhouse tomato exports for the specified period is 12.5 percent more than in the first nine months of 2022 (about 80,000 tons).
The main importing countries of tomatoes, most of which were harvested by private producers, are Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and the UAE.
Furthermore, at the moment, the total area of modern greenhouses in Turkmenistan is 916 hectares, of which tomatoes are grown on 868 hectares.
Meanwhile, Turkmenistan has recently made a significant step in the development of the production and export of greenhouse tomatoes. The export of these products becomes an important source of income for the country, ensuring its participation in the world market and contributing to a variety of economic opportunities.
