ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, February 22. Turkmenistan plans to produce about 2,100 tons of silkworm cocoons this year, Trend reports.
According to official data, the largest volume of product collection in the country, amounting to 1,010 tons of silkworm cocoons, is planned in the Lebap region, located in the east of the country.
Furthermore, Turkmenistan also plans to receive silkworm cocoons in the Dashoguz region - 500 tons, in the Mary region - 410 tons, in the Ahal region - 155 tons, in the Balkan region – 25 tons.
In general, over the past year, farms throughout Turkmenistan collected more than 2,300 tons of silkworm cocoons, thereby significantly exceeding the plan.
Silk, one of Turkmenistan's most important agricultural products, is primarily produced in the Mary, Ahal, and Lebap regions of the country.
One of the leading enterprises of the sericulture industry of Turkmenistan is the Ashgabat Silk Factory and the Turkmenabat Silk Production Association.
