ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, March 5. The growth in the volume of trade turnover at the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan from January through February this year compared to the same period last year amounted to 2.2 percent, Trend reports.
This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Government of Turkmenistan Batyr Atdaev at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.
According to him, the growth rate of the works carried out by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan during the reporting period reached 3.4 percent, and the number of organized forums amounted to 16.
Furthermore, Atdaev added that the growth rate of agricultural and food production by the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan in the first two months of this year amounted to 4.1 percent, and industrial production – 7.3 percent.
Deputy Chairman stressed that the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan held 49 auctions from January through February 2023, according to the results of which 4,455 contracts were registered, and also added that compared to the same period last year, the growth rate of total income is 2.4 percent.
Meanwhile, Turkmenistan's industrial sector is undergoing a period of intensive development, stimulated by strategic investments in key industries such as the oil and gas industry, chemical production, textile and construction industries.
