Turkmenistan, EU note significant increase in trade volume

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 28. The trade between Turkmenistan and the EU member states in January this year amounted to more than 118.44 million euros, a source at Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, told Trend.

During the reporting period, the volume of trade turnover between Turkmenistan and the EU countries increased by more than 88.7 percent compared to the first month of 2023 (62.74 million euros).

Turkmenistan's exports to the EU in January 2024 reached over 77.73 million euros, reflecting a 3.4-fold increase compared to the corresponding month of 2023, when it amounted to 22.36 million euros.

At the same time, during the reporting period, Turkmenistan's imports from EU countries remained almost the same compared to January last year (40.38 million euros), reaching a total of 40.71 million euros.

Meanwhile, the trade turnover between Turkmenistan and the EU countries in 2023 reached 1.87 billion euros, which is almost 87 percent more than in 2022, when it amounted to 1 billion euros.
