Turkmenistan significantly increases amount of exports to Kazakhstan

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 15. Turkmenistan exported almost $22.9 million worth of goods to Kazakhstan from January through February this year, which is 89 percent more than in the same period of 2023, when it amounted to $12.1 million, Trend reports.

According to Kazakhstan's Bureau of National Statistics, the amount of trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan for the specified period amounted to $78.2 million, which is 7.6 percent lower compared to the same months of 2023, when it amounted to almost $84.7 million.

Turkmenistan's share in the total volume of trade turnover in Kazakhstan during the reporting period amounted to 0.4 percent, which remained unchanged compared to the first two months of 2023.

At the same time, exports from Kazakhstan to Turkmenistan decreased by 23 percent year-on-year from January through February 2024 (from $72.5 million to $55.3 million).

Turkmenistan accounted for 0.5 percent of total exports from Kazakhstan, compared with 0.06 percent recorded in the first two months of 2023.

Meanwhile, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan for the whole of last year amounted to $563.06 million, which is 28 percent more than in the same period of 2022, when it amounted to $438.69 million.
