BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 3. Russia and Turkmenistan continue to work consistently to create favorable conditions for mutual trade, a source in the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation told Trend.
The representative of the service noted that since the beginning of the year, the Federal Customs Service of Russia has been implementing the Russian-Turkmen project "simplified customs corridor," which will be aimed at creating conditions for promoting mutual trade and increasing trade turnover between the two countries, providing special simplifications for project participants at the stage of customs declaration and release of goods (preparation for signing an agreement on the organization of a simplified procedure for customs operations during the movement of goods and vehicles).
At the same time, it was noted that work is also underway to exchange preliminary information on goods transported in mutual trade between Russia and Turkmenistan, which will reduce the time of customs operations and increase the effectiveness of customs control.
"Furthermore, the Turkmen side was invited to intensify efforts on the issue of Turkmenistan's accession to the Agreement of November 20, 2009 'On the rules of determination of the country of goods' origin in the Commonwealth of Independent States'. The 1993 rules are significantly outdated and are applied only by Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan and do not allow for the introduction of information exchange, which provides for a reduction in the time required for customs authorities to perform customs operations when controlling the origin of goods," the source said.
Meanwhile, Russia is Turkmenistan's leading partner in terms of trade turnover among the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
Within the framework of this partnership, an active exchange of various goods and services is carried out, including energy carriers, machine-building products, as well as food and agricultural products.
