State-owned enterprises drive Turkmenistan's food production surge

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, June 10. State-owned enterprises in Turkmenistan have ramped up the production of food items from January through May this year, Trend reports.

Tangryguly Atakhallyev, Deputy Chairman of the Government of Turkmenistan, asserted this during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held on June 7.

He pointed out that during the mentioned period, the growth rate of production by the State Association of the Food Industry surged by 7.3 percent, the State Association of the Livestock and Poultry Industry recorded an increase of 14 percent, and the Turkmen Atlary State Association saw a growth of 1.8 percent.

Furthermore, the Deputy Chairman stressed that in the first 4 months of this year, the State Committee of Water Management increased production growth rate by 33.3 percent, the Turkmenpagta State Concern remained unchanged, the Turkmen Galla Onumleri State Association increased by 124.2 percent, and the Turkmenobahyzmat State Association increased by 9.4 percent.

Meanwhile, Turkmenistan has placed significant emphasis on advancing its agro-industrial sector, with a primary focus on enhancing farming methods, improving efficiency, and securing food sovereignty.

Infrastructure upgrades, including irrigation systems and agricultural machinery, have received extensive investment. The adoption of cutting-edge farming techniques and technologies has resulted in a notable increase in agricultural productivity.
