ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, July 1. Turkmenistan's farmers have planted 300 hectares of land with potatoes this season in the Sayat district of the Lebap region, located in the east of the country, Trend reports.
According to official data, this year the farmers of the district collected 14.3 tons of products from a hectare of cultivated land, which amounted to a total volume of more than 4,400 tons of potatoes, thereby exceeding the plan.
In general, 1,400 hectares of land were planted throughout the Lebap region this season, from which over 19,700 tons of potatoes were harvested.
The harvested crop is offered to customers at affordable rates in markets and shops, and the surplus is transported to specialized refrigerated storage facilities owned by the Miwe Agro-Industrial Association.
Meanwhile, Turkmenistan is striving to guarantee sustained agricultural development through infrastructure upgrading, the adoption of advanced technology, and diversification of production.
The nation is making substantial investments in infrastructure, developing novel crops, supporting small-scale farms, and emphasizing environmental sustainability.
