BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 1. President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow received Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, Trend reports via Turkmenistan State News Agency (TDH).

The sides talked about exploring new avenues to amp up their energy game.

"During the meeting, key issues were discussed, including the transportation of Turkmen gas to Türkiye and Europe, and the construction of a power plant on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea. President Berdimuhamedow affirmed Turkmenistan's readiness to continue energy sector cooperation with Türkiye, grounded in centuries-old ties and mutual trust," the report stated.

Special attention was given to the potential participation of Turkish companies in developing Turkmenistan's fuel and energy sector, ore mining, transportation and communications, agriculture, and investments.

"In this context, President Berdimuhamedow emphasized that Türkiye holds a leading position in Turkmenistan's foreign trade and highlighted the significant opportunities for furthering bilateral and regional relations," the Turkmen state agency reported.

A key focus of the meeting was the discussion of documents signed in March, including the "Declaration of Intent on Cooperation in the Field of Hydrocarbon Resources" and the "Memorandum of Mutual Cooperation on the Development of Partnership in the Field of Natural Gas."

"These documents provide a crucial legal foundation for the continued expansion of bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas sector," TDH noted.
