(Itar-Tass) - Ukraines gas debt to Turkmenistan reduced from 250 million U.S. dollars to 47.3 million in 2006, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuri Yekhanurov said on Thursday summing up the results of the governments work in January-June.
Turkmenistan owes the same amount to Ukraines industries for export of equipment and construction works, he said, reports Trend.
Ukraine managed to postpone the introduction of market prices for gas import getting a very important transition period.
This energy-efficient policy helped to reduce consumption of gas in metallurgy by 24 percent and of electric energy by 18 percent.
