The check-up was conducted by well-known German physicians, surgeon-ophthalmologist Prof Arthur Mueller and the expert in anesthetists and resuscitation, Klaus Tschaikowski.

As is known, these German specialists conducted a successful operation on the Turkmen president's left eye in February 2005. This operation helped Saparmurat Niyazov fully recover his eyesight, reports Trend.

They also recommended that his noble patient have surgery on another eye to equalize the sight of both eyes."

In an interview with TDH Prof Arthur Mueller said:

Having had consultations with other members of our medical team, we decided to carry out the surgery operation at the end of January 2007. We have agreed this issue also with the president himself. I and Prof Tschaikowski are both are happy to have the honour of the head of state, and we are confident that the operation will be a success.
