Uzbekistan, Tashkent, Aug.25 / Trend, D. Azizov /

Uzbek President Islam Karimov signed a resolution on days off for Independence Day. Thus, Saturday, August 27, and Sunday, August 28, will be declared working days. Monday, August 29, and Tuesday, August 30, will be holidays.

The decision to postpone the holidays was made due to the 20th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence celebration, attempting to create favorable conditions for civil rest, and to make effective use of work time, according to the presidential decree published in the media outlets.

Uzbekistan's Independence Day is celebrated on Sept.1. In addition, in 2011, the end of August coincides with the end of the month of Ramadan and the celebration of the Muslim holiday Ramadan Khait, which has been given as a day off in Uzbekistan yearly, since 1992.
